Connie has more new experiences today

We went to a PR around reservoirs up in the exposed north Pennines, a 2hour trek in the trailer so her longest trailer trip ever!
It was a stiff breeze but the rain held off until we got back to the venue & were loading them to go home :)
I now know I can stop Connie tanking off...the flapping silage bales right by the road were too much & she flew off but I stopped her within 20-30 strides :)
For the most part the resevoir was dark with white topped wavelets & so got a cursory glance but when we turned one corner it was really bright so ears forwards but she walked on calmly :) We also crossed bridges over rushing rivers, done with aplomb :)
Darna led for at least 1/4 of the ride....we have not done it for 2 years & it was as if she recognised it as a fast ride so she strode off & even trotted in the lead for over 1km :) Normally Darna will lead for 100m if needed to get Connie past something new but this was different & OH is very pleased with her ...for 12 years she has been a follower not a leader!!
When we met 2 more stacks of flapping bales, both by cattle grids I got off & led Connie & she did fine, my remounting with my wonky leg was very inelegant!!!!
We got back well in time...a speed of 9.03k/h so very pleased....Connie has only gone faster than that twice before, once at a ride from the pub in the next village so she knew the route & the other time on a level route with lots of wide verges, a route that always gives good speeds.
So what is left for Connie to experience....riding in an urban setting, along old railway lines, on the beach & beside the M1 so plenty more experiences to be had .... probably next year but we might get down to the beach in the autumn :)

Well done :clap::clap::clap: IP has led a sheltered life to date and its marvellous to get the opportunity to expose her to new sights and sounds. Mostly she has a moment about whatever it is and then it is banked into her memory for the future - very rarely she will check again...the geese may be the exception to this rule :eeek::eeek::eeek:

We were near Romaldkirk, just north of Barnard Castle, riding around Hury reservoir. Great views :)
