Another set of new experiences at today's PR

Fabulous weather :) but ground like concrete :(
Today's ride meant several busy road crossings with dodgy manhole covers in the way. However first of all we had to go through a narrow gateway & follow a track between 2 fields of strange horses with blue alkathene pipe across the track :eeek: Next the farm yard with beef cattle feeding in a trough beside the road:eeek: OH kindly got off to lead us past this. Finally onto the permissive bridleways & a stonking trot.
Connie coped superbly with the busy dual carriageway right beside us....happily the lane nearest us was coned off & empty, phew. After several kilometers of this we came to a sharp bend with treetrunk sized uprights to stop motorbikes going through...Connie felt it stopped her too :thud: so I had to get off to lead her between them. I got back on from the ground:banana::banana: She strode through the muddy bits in the woods, trotted on the cinder track & even offered to trot up the very steep bit but I said "No".
Yet again we had to walk past the photographer & give him a serious stare:D C knows you have to walk past pedestrians :D Then back to the farm yard & the 2 horses ahead of us were refusing to go past the eating beef cattle. Connie looked at the horses, the cows & realised the only way back to the trailer & FOOD was to go between the spinning horse & the cows so with busy watching the cows she led the troops past the cows, then along the narrow track between strangers & over the blue alkathene pipe & finally through the very narrow gate with yellow direction boards on either side. Very proud of her, Darna is vastly more experienced but will not lead...Darna views her role as follower/bottom biter to encourage "forwards" :D so Connie with 8 PRs under her girth has to boldly go forth!! Very occassionally Darna will lead for 5-6 strides but then grinds to a halt  :thud: Just her personality :)
We got back with 5 mins to spare & passed the vetting so very pleased with them.
That stallion was there again but we did not meet him out on course, however we were parked right by the way in/out....not our choice...so poor ponies had lots of rattly wagons/trailers going by including that stallion shouting his head off. They coped until 1 vehicle went by really fast, looked like road speed :banghead: & then both ponies were pulling back & trying to spin:(
Happily OH moved our rig so we did not have to load with other vehicles whizzing by & Connie loaded like a pro:)
No more PRs until after the Great Yorkshire Show...focus on sheep halter training for the next 2 weeks :)
