Thank you Rebecca

.... for organising a wonderful trip to Philip Kirby Racing.
We had the all weather bark surface gallops to use ..... they consisted of a straight approx 3 furlongs leading down to an oval, approx 5 furlongs. There were only 4 of us so after one circuit walking & trotting round together to familiarise the ponies to the strange new environment, we split into 2 pairs and went round a few times before returning via the uphill straight to the trailers. Connie achieved 32k/h max speed, she travelled well with Darna, was worried Darna's rubbing whilst the trailer was stationary might upset Connie but it seemed not to bother her. Darna has SI & she is most itchy at this time of year as we have to take her SI rug off to allow her to grow her winter woollies.

Mood: Loving my lovely ponies

[*] posted on 17-10-2017 at 08:49 PM

It was a really lovely outing. I had only managed to ride once in the fortnight leading up to this outing so was not feeling very brave! But actually, it is a very safe and unscary environment. There is enough room and distance to separate speedy and not so speedy ponies and we had some good canters. If it was closer I'd be there every week! We will make this a regular trip and hope to those of you who couldn't make it this time can join us.
