A visit to Julie

On Saturday, I went to see Julie's ponies with OH. Ulterior motive :stealth: - I want another pony and he wants a horse, so we wanted to see if he could be persuaded that another highland is an option for both of us.

It was lovely to meet James and Monty and Julie let us both have a ride on them :) Apologies Julie - I don't think we are showing your gorgeous ponies to best advantage in these photos!!

The problem is, there's a little bit of height difference between us ;)

OH on Monty, who is (I think) 15hh:

Me on Monty:

OH on 14.2 James:

Me on James:

Think OK looks quite relaxed:

Interestingly, I felt really comfortable on big Monty, even though I look a bit silly on him. OH said he loved both, but didn't feel too big on James, which surprised him. I think we have a convert :banana::banana:

I know that some sellers can get annoyed when buyers are keen to get a bigger or over height pony because a highland should be able to carry the weight, but you can see our issue from the photos. OH is less than 13 stone, but long in the back. He just feels unbalanced on a smaller pony. What surprised me is how small I look even on a 14.2, but I felt comfortable too.

It's fantastic to know that a bigger, chunkier pony feels fine for him - thanks Julie :flowers:

So nice of Julie to let you have a play.

A smaller pony would defiantly carry your husband but he will feel and look better on an up to or even over height one and that is important. There are quite a lot of big ponies out there. my Glens 15hh and I'd be surprised if Rory doesn't make the same. So keep the pleasure on for a highland

I'm quite short, but wanted a 14.2 as I wanted a neck in front of me, I can quite understand if your OH is tall that he wants to feel as if he has something there in front as well as underneath. He looks good on both, as do you. I agree with Jeanette, how wonderful now you can go see what is out there. Have fun

:clap: brilliant , OH looks fine on them but I also understand why he wants a bit more in front, I found it a shock going from a 15.1 to Duncan who i think is 13.1 ish.
So an over height Highland would be perfect for him, decision made :heh hee:

I think you both look like you are enjoying your rides. Tricky to get one pony to suit both of you but hope OH is a convert. He certainly looks good up there.
